things to do in Scotland

The superb location of Stirling means that all parts of Scotland are accessible for a day. Here are just a few of the incredible selection that Scotland offers:

* Loch Ness is a must if you want to go monster hunting.
* The City of Edinburgh is just 40 minutes by car or train. The Castle, Princes Street, The Royal Mile, Grey Friar's Bobby, Parliament House and the brilliant Scottish excuberance of Edinburgh.
* The City of Glasgow is just 40 minutes in the other direction again by car or train. Glasgow is not such a tourist hub as Edinburgh but is impressive in its own right.
* Loch Lomond: This is the Loch that is loved most by the Scots and is just a few miles north of Glasgow. You are now in the Trossachs National Park.
* The Scottish Highlands begin about one hour north and west of Stirling. This is surely one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
* The Falkirk Wheel is only about 15 minutes away. This is an incredible engineering achievement that lifts boats from one level to the higher level of the Forth and Clyde Canal.
* Bo'Ness is only five minutes from the Falkirk Wheel and here you can enjoy a journey back in time in along the banks of the river Forth in the Kinneil Railway.
* The Museum of Flight is south of Edinburgh. There are more than 50 aircraft to view but the special gem is Concorde. It doesn't fly now but you can step on board the supersonic plane.
* Midlothian Ski Centre is also south of Edinburgh. This is a ski piste that has no snow or ice and you can enjoy this unique attraction all year. Skis are available to rent.
* Roslyn Chapel is a must to visit if you are a fan of the Da Vinci Code. This is also just south of Edinburgh.
* The Whisky Trail is easy to reach. One of the nearest distilleries is Tullibardine and while there you can visit the world famous Gleneagles Hotel.
* The Royal Yacht Britannia is now on the river Forth just a little north of Edinburgh and is open to the public all year.
* Cross the famous Forth Bridge to North Queensferry to Deep Sea World and watch sharks and piranhas in the world's longest 112 metre tunnel underwater.
